Baby Diaper Rash? Things to be aware of

Pediatrician Dr. Tajrina Rahman Jenny will give details about what to do to prevent diaper rash in children.

How are you all Today I am writing about a very common topic that mothers have many questions about. Mothers now put their babies in diapers from birth. Some babies don't have any problems at all from using diapers. Many people get a rash, the skin becomes red. Not everyone's skin is the same. Some have sensitive skin. People with sensitive skin are more prone to diaper rash. If the area covered by the diaper is ever red, swollen or scaly and the child cries in pain when touched, then you will know that diaper rash is present. If the baby cleans this area regularly, the rash disappears within 3/4 days. But if this happens, infection, sores, pus appear at the site of the rash and there is fever in the body, then consult a doctor immediately.

How to prevent baby diaper rash?

1) Use highly absorbent and comfortable diapers that will not overflow or leak and reduce baby's rash.

2) After each diaper change, wipe the affected area before putting on a new diaper.

3) Use petroleum jelly, petroleum ointment. For those with oily skin, they can also use powder.

4) Use the right size diaper so that the baby's body is not too tight.

5) Let the baby sleep without a diaper when the rash is present.

6) Do not feed your baby any foods that cause skin allergies. Because when the skin becomes sensitive, the tendency to diaper rash increases.

Some additional tips

1) Diapers should be changed every 6-8 hours. If the baby is nappy, it should be changed as soon as possible and time is not a factor.

2) If you see spots around your baby's legs and waist from wearing tight diapers, then next time you should wear a looser diaper.

3) If you see rashes on baby's diaper area, legs and waist, then change the brand of diapers you are wearing.

4) If the baby's umbilical cord is still not worn, fold the area near the waist of the diaper to keep the area dry. Continue this till a few days after the pulse wears off.

5) Baby should always be wiped from front to back (never wipe from back to front especially in girls, otherwise bacterial infection may occur which may lead to urinary infection)

6) Clean the upper part of your baby's ankles thoroughly. The folds of his knees and hips should also be cleaned.

7) Wash your hands thoroughly after changing the baby's diaper so that germs do not spread.

From what age can a child wear diapers?

Can be given from birth. In that case, choose a comfortable diaper of the right size. But note the humidity and temperature of the room. Because there is more chance of rash if you wear hot.

It can be narrow waist?

Not scientifically proven. Wearing extra-tight diapers all the time may help, but research is ongoing.

So today we learned some facts about baby diaper rash. That's all for today, everyone be fine.
